This week TK has focused on thankfulness. We talked about what it looks like and sounds like. We greeted our friends with, "Thank you for coming!" Students also had the opportunity to write thank you notes to the Donor's Choose donor who requested them. We are thankful for our so many things, especially our new play table and play rug in TK and to the generous donors who made it possible!

This month, TK is observing the weather and recording their data on a graph. We have enjoyed so many sunny days this month! Today we spent extra time outside with parachute fun for PE!
After the minimum day schedule last week, students enjoyed coming back to our regular routines, especially choice time every day! Here they are at our morning meeting cheering for their friends who came to school today and enjoying the new classrooms items (table and play rug) from Donor's Choose!

This week was a flurry of activity with Spirit Week, Jog-a-Thon, Fall Festival, and Parent Conferences. The days were so short and we were so busy, I hardly got any pictures!! Our Fall Festival celebration on the 31st had so many wonderful volunteers though that I was able to step back and take quite a few photos that day. Here they are...Enjoy! :)

Students continue to enjoy having a choice in their learning at center job time. This week we added more fall themed centers with leaves and pumpkins!
On Thursday, students had fun with pumpkin math and science. We are so fortunate to have many parent volunteers that can make extra special events like this possible.
Sami surprised us with a visit on Thursday too. The kids loved seeing him again and cheering each other on with positive messages including, "Never give up! You got this!" and "Strive, Achieve, Motivate, Inspire!"
Today students had the chance to taste their toasted pumpkin seeds. They had about a 60% approval rating. ;)

For Ff week, students learned about fingerprints. They observed their own fingerprints and learned that no two prints are alike. Then they made fingerprint art!
TK is hard at work to learn all their letter names and sounds. Here they are practicing during our "Letter Walk" today.
These kids are becoming better and better writers too! This week we wrote in journals for the first time this week. Students shared what they did over fall break, observed me write and illustrate my fall break activity, then wrote and illustrated on their own. They put so much effort into their work. Look at this level of detail!
Today we had fun with extra outside time for PE. Students learned how to safely ride trikes and played with sidewalk chalk too. Check the Twitter feed for some trike video footage. :)

It was Ee week. Students were introduced to the vowel/consonant distinction. They looked for letter Ee in messages and stories. TK continued to explore dinosaurs too, especially their life cycle. Students learned that dinosaurs hatched from eggs and that the life cycle goes on and on...well until extinction at least!
Another awesome part of our week was being paid a visit by Captain Kindness and a First Grade class who shared a message about kindness and delivered kindness capes for teachers and students to use in recognition of kind acts at school. So kind!
We got a jump start on Ff Week by opening up a Forky craft station at choice time today. I love their quirky creations!

Dd week means dinosaurs and dogs! TK had a blast learning about dinosaurs. They loved playing with dinosaurs at choice time, doing math and literacy activities with a dinosaur theme, creating dinosaur art (soon to be on display in the front window!) and reading lots of books about dinosaurs. Students were introduced to the parts of speech and created complex sentences about dinosaurs orally with the help of a sentence patterning chart. TK created a cute paper bag dog puppet and sang songs about dogs with them at our morning meeting.
Students also learned how to form numbers 1, 2, and 3 in our Handwriting without Tears program. They like to practice at center time with play-dough and dry erase number formation.

This week started off with a celebration. TK students have been working hard on good behavior. When the teacher catches them being awesome, they earn "fluffies" for the jar. Each time the jar is filled, the class earns a fluffy on the board. When the fluffy rainbow is complete, students earn a celebration. This time, students earned a bonus recess with bubbles, chalk, music, and watercolors. They had so much fun!
Friday was Picture Day and also our Teddy Bear Picnic. TK loves to read, sing, work, eat, and play with their bears on Teddy Bear Picnic Day!

Sami from Sami's Circuit came to our school with a terrific motivational assembly and a high energy workout session. The kids loved it!
On Friday, TK celebrated the end of our rainbow unit with Rainbow Day! We had fun dressing up in rainbow colors and doing rainbow activities like drawing with chalk, watercolor painting, eating fruit popsicles in all the colors of the rainbow, and even making rainbows with prisms. Hooray for rainbows!
