Xander is our STAR of the Week. His favorite book is Ryan's Pizza Party. Look what students had to say about Xander: "I like Xander." - Abigail "He plays with me at recess." - Carter "He always plays with me." - Mason "He bounces me on the bridge." - Kyle "I like Xander." - Sophia "He always tries his best at school and he listens." - Sasha Wow. In a few short weeks, the world turned upside down. The COVID-19 pandemic has us all sheltering in place since schools closed on Monday, March 16th. Things have changed so fast since that first day of closure and continue to change almost daily. One thing that never changed though is our Morning Meetings. We may not be able to see each other at school but, thanks to Zoom, our Morning Meetings didn't miss a beat. We were back together on the first day of the school closure for greetings, sharing, and activities online in real time. It's not the same as being together at school of course, but it's incredible to see all our TK friends' faces and hear their sweet voices each school day. I am so grateful for this time we have. Here are a few images of our meeting times together. The costumes are from our new tradition, Fancy Friday! TK students love to dress up (and if I'm being honest, so do I!) It's nice to have a reason to get out of pajamas too. On our first Friday, Belle hosted our ZOOM meeting from the ballroom. The following Friday it was Fancy Nancy and most recently we went tropical and sang Lava together. Lots of kids dressed up too! Spider-Man joined us from the city, princesses came, we saw Vietnamese Chinese and Indian traditional dress clothes, baseball players, Iron Man, and more! Teachers everywhere are missing their kids. This week our staff came together to create a music video dedicated to the students and families at STAR. Special thanks to Scott Semple, Kham Vue, and Emily Shane for making producing, "Always a Star" Here's to making the most of remote everything (and to finding ways to keep from going stir crazy!) Stay safe out there and take care of each other. <3
