TK loves stories! This week's blog is dedicated to all our new favorite books. We focused on the author/illustrator David Shannon this week. He has such funny stories!! We loved having parent volunteers help us this week! We can do so much more with parent help. :)

Rainbows are my favorite and I just love diving into this unit with students. Enjoy the photos of our colorful week! We sang "Don't Worry, Be Happy," at morning meeting this week. We talked about the islands of Hawaii and how the ukulele is a popular instrument on the islands. This ukulele was my grandmother's and it was made and purchased in Hawaii. We read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and learned about coconuts by watching a short demonstration filmed in Hawaii on how to crack a coconut with no tools. We also related our rainbow theme to the islands because rainbows are so common in Hawaii. We made tear art rainbows and finished our Rainbow of Friends self portraits. We love our weekly Spanish and Art classes with Senora Quant and Mrs. Shane! We'll spend a little more time with rainbows and then begin our journey through the alphabet with themes from A-Z. Coming soon will be alligators, apples, and air!
This week TK is continuing to learn about routines and being a good listener. Our theme this week is friendship. Every day when we take care of our materials, we get new materials to play with and explore. It's fun to have new center choices each day! Every day we start the day with a quiet activity at our tables. Look at these great listeners staying in their seats and enjoying stories! We love ending the day with choice time. And we help each other clean up if there is a mess! So wonderful to see these little ones being kind friends to one another!
It's here! The first day of school came and with it came a wonderful new class of students. These little ones are learning all about our classroom, our school, and about their new TK friends! Enjoy these first glimpses into our year. Above: Our First Recess Below: Just Before the First Day of School We read, "The Crayon Box That Talked" and discussed how each person, like each crayon, is unique and adds something important to the picture and to our classroom. Then we used our first day of school crayon to add color to our class mural. Some students are coming back at center time to add more and more to our class mural! TK is already working in being independent learners at center time. At the end of the day, students have some well deserved choice time when house and blocks are open too. This little one is right at home in the library A favorite part of the week was seeing students start on our first art project. Looking forward to finishing our art projects tomorrow and seeing fresh art on in the window!
So proud of these little ones and all their hard work this week!! |
