My heart is full. We had a so much fun today thanks to all the support from families. From donating supplies to coming in to lend a hand, we are so grateful for all the parent support. Thank you families!

It's Mm week and as I sat to write about Mm things I realized this week has been less focused on the letter thematically. As I thought about why, I realized it's because there is so much to do as we prepare to close out 2016. To celebrate the loose ends we are tying up (five senses study and book, family gifts (*shhh, the kids are working hard to keep their work a surprise), our last KIND Kids Club meeting, a sprinkling of assessments, and continuing our author study of Jan Brett) I decided to lump it under the wonderful Mm word, miscellaneous! These are miscellaneous times for most families I think. There is just so much to do and there is that pressure to make things just right for the holidays and to get the new year off to a better start than the year before. It's always a little frantic and messy but merry and joyful too. This week, I have uploaded our class photos and the kids have decided what we should say about them. Enjoy hearing about our week from a TK perspective. :) "Gingerbread Christmas is a big celebration." -Sandro "Gingerbread Baby is in Gingerbread Christmas." - Tristan "Gingerbread Christmas is the best book because I just love the book." - Isabel "We read together in the class." - Ellie "The pictures are good." - Laila "This class is the best." - Marissa "When we earned all our fluffies we got to make paper airplanes." - Binuthi "We always wanted to have a celebration with paper airplanes." - Victoria "It was fun to earn all the fluffies." - Liam ""We made shoes." - Jackson and Ariannie "I like when we made this." - Marcelo "We can pick the books that we want." - Phelyna Cheers to you all this Holiday Season! May your lights be bright and your hearts be light. <3 Mrs. Benz and STAR TK
This week we are continuing our author study of Jan Brett. She has written and illustrated over 30 books. Each one takes about a year to complete! She is coming to El Dorado Hills for a book signing on Saturday, December 10th!! More information here. This week we wrote about things and people we love. These kids have so many ideas! Mrs. Hines came back to read Chrysanthemum and teach about using kind words. We learned that unkind words are hard to fix. Check out our latest newsletter for more about what we are learning in TK!
This is such a wonderful time of year to spend with the kids. They are SO excited and the sights, sounds, smells, flavors, and textures of the season are terrifically joyful. We are learning about the five senses. Here students are exploring in the updated sensory table with their hands. They love the smell of the cinnamon sticks inside! Our science and observation center is updated with evergreen trimmings and a giant pine cone. The pine scent is wonderful! In science, we tried to collect paperclips from a bowl of rice while blindfolded. It was hard to not rely on sight for the activity. Kids counted and recorded how many paperclips they were able to collect in 30 seconds. **No matter what I try, the pine photo always resets to upside down on this page. I've given up on fixing it but I still like the greenery, even if it's defying gravity. ;) We created pine trees in the snow using three triangles, one rectangle, and dots of white paint. Here are some more highlights from our week:
