Our TK class is all abuzz about our chicken eggs. We've been counting down to their due date and cannot wait until Tuesday when they are expected to arrive! It will be interesting to see how many hatch out of the twelve eggs that we have in the incubator. They look the same on the outside, but we are learning that there are big changes happening on the inside. Source: usa-gardening.com/hatching-chicken-eggs/chicken-embryo-development.html We also shared the beloved story of Frog and Toad: The Garden and planted seeds of our own. What kind? Beans of course! We wanted to grow our own beanstalks just like Jack. Even though we've wrapped up our 2D and 3D shapes study in math, there is still lots of shape exploration happening at center time. We have just started our focus on subtraction. Today we watched this memorable subtraction video with pirates. Pirates always take away! We can't wait to share all these cool things with our families at Open House!

We continued our study of Fairy Tales and Nursery Rhymes with a focus on the Three Little Pigs and Project Lead the Way's connected STEM lesson this week. After sharing and retelling the story, TK engineered houses made of "straw" (toothpicks), sticks, and bricks. The following day the "big bad wolf" (a blower) came in to test the structures. Amazingly, they ALL held. We have some terrific engineers in this class! In other big news, our incubator is set up with a dozen eggs in side. We will wait patiently for 21 days until our chicks hatch. We can't wait!! The apex of our unit was our field trip to Fairy Tale Town. Riding on the bus was exciting! We picnicked in the park, watched a funny puppet show telling the stories of The Tortoise and the Hare and The Three Billy Goats Gruff and then played all over the park. It was a wonderful day together. I came back from our field trip today to this heartwarming welcome. THANK YOU to all the "leprechauns" who worked so hard to make me and all our STAR teachers feel so appreciated. From an amazing breakfast, to sweet notes and gifts, to this beautiful display, thank you for making my day and my week. My heart is full 💕
