Zz Week | Zeke Zebra, ZOOMing with Inertia, and a Zest for Stories, Rhymes, and Fairy Tales3/30/2017 Hooray! We made it to the end of the alphabet!!! Our science lesson ZOOMed by so fast I didn't get any pictures. We had a blast (literally when a balloon popped!) swirling a penny in a balloon so that centripetal force made it stand up and inertia kept it zooming around with a buzz long after our swirling stopped. This week we revisited the story, Olmo and the Blue Butterfly, and enjoyed a cool science center focused on the life cycle of the butterfly. We are gearing up for our upcoming field trip to Fairy Tale Town with a unit on Nursery Rhymes and Fairy Tales. This week we focused on retelling The Three Billy Goats Gruff and making connections across texts for Humpty Dumpty with the classic poem and the story Little Lumpty. Tomorrow we celebrate with alphabet soup and animated stories. Can't wait!

Look at these young writers in TK! From brainstorming to publishing, these kids continue to impress with their original ideas and their interest in each other's work. We are excited to have the opportunity to be a part of a PFAA Senior Project. Last Friday two PFAA Seniors met us at the library to share a story. This week, they came back to lead a tissue flower craft tied to the story they read, Flora and the Flamingo. It was such a treat to have these students leading our class this way. Take a look at the newsletter to see what else is going on in TK. St. Patrick's Day is almost here! We can't wait to see if the traps we made today will catch a leprechaun. For W week, we learned about the seven continents of the world. As part of our study, we revisited author Jan Brett and discussed the setting of some of her stories. We located these settings on our map of the world. We also sang a little song about the continents. Check it out! We had fun observing a vortex in science and recording our observations! (Yes, technically this should have been a Vv week experiment. We got a week behind in part because our field trip was last week!) Other new centers from the past week include sorting variations of color from dark to light and sight word memory games. We keep busy reading and writing too! Check out our newsletter to see what else is happening.
Vv Week | Victor Vampire Bat and a Very Good Time with Dr. Suess Week and at the Children's Museum3/2/2017 Of all the fun days we've had this year, today was quite possibly my favorite. Seeing our TK class experience their first ride on a school bus and watching then explore and play so joyfully was magical. We've been talking about cause and effect and there were so many opportunities to see cause and effect in action today! On top of it all, we had such AMAZING parent volunteers that I could enjoy being present and recording our memories. What a gift. Here are some highlights in pictures: See what else we've been doing; read our class newsletter!
