Gurveen is our STAR of the Week. Her favorite book is Kindergarten ABC by Jacqueline Rogers. Here is what students had to say about Gurveen: "She shows respect to the whole class." - Eli "I like Gurveen." - Aayan "She's kind." - Sriya "She plays with me." - Grayson "She's my friend." - Chloe "She shows kindness and respect." - Jalen This week we had our second special visit from Mrs. Hines, the Kindness Teacher, and her pup, Captain Kindness! She shared the story, Have You Filled a Bucket Today? Then students learned a song and colored buckets that they could give to friends or family. Children learned that showing kindness feels good to us and to others too. Fill a bucket every day! We created beautiful new art for our wall this week too. Our snowy pine trees are ready to welcome winter! In math, we are focusing on shapes. Our focus is on triangles, rectangles, squares, circles, and hexagons. Check out these fun Youtube Videos to learn those shapes and more.

Grayson is our STAR of the Week. Her favorite book is Walt Disney Alphabet A-Z. Here is what students had to say about Grayson: "She respects the line at lunch time." - Sydnee "I like Grayson because she thinks I'm a wolf and I am a wolf." - Bo "She plays with me at the park." - Kenzie "I like Grayson." - Amarjot "She shows kindness to the class." - Lilian "She plays with me." - Gurveen This week, TK reflected on things for which they are thankful. Many students decorated a feather to reflect their gratitude as well. We put them on our Thankful Turkey. We had new math centers this week for counting and had our first rainy day recesses too. The most exciting part of the week though was probably when Porky the piglet came for a guest visit. TK got to feed him Cheerios and apples. We giggled when he oinked and squealed. He was SO cute!!!
Eli is our STAR of the Week. His favorite books are There Was an Old Mermaid Who Swallowed a Shark by Lucille Colandro and No, David! by David Shannon. Here is what students had to say about Eli: "I like Eli." - Bassam "I like Eli because he does Go Noodle." - Chloe "He shows kindness." - Jalen "He's nice to everyone at the class." - Pepper "He plays with me." - Samrat "He listens to Mrs. Benz and does a lot of kindness." - Sriya Last week I surveyed students to find out what they wanted to learn about in TK, their favorite things about school, and what they would change to make TK even better. Their answers were every bit as adorable as they are. Some students would like to change the color of the walls. One wants pink while another wants the classroom to be shinier (think gold and sparkles). Many students were eager for fresh, new center jobs and their wish was granted. These students are getting better every day at working independently and solving problems between themselves. I am so proud of them! This first set of photos is from a new job called Count the Room. Students worked with a partner to find the "hidden" objects around the room, count them, and write the corresponding number on the chart. Here are a photos of a few more ways we have stayed busy learning and exploring at center time lately. TK had an especially amazing Monday and Tuesday with behavior that would even be the envy of upper grades. These students were shining bright at Morning Meeting, Spanish, centers, and even during seat-work times. They are becoming increasingly independent with their work habits and in peer problem solving. They earned all the "fluffies" once again and chose to celebrate with an extra recess with chalk and bubbles. In science we are learning about weather by recording our daily observations. Of course, with Thanksgiving ahead, there is lots of talk about turkeys, being thankful, and differences between today and long ago. We also learned about Veteran's Day in social studies. Thank you, Veterans! Here is a fun little counting song we shared today (below). Enjoy the long weekend! Dylan is our STAR of the Week. His favorite book is One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish by Dr. Suess. Here is what students had to say about Dylan: "He plays with me." - Eli "He knows respect in the line." - Sydnee "I like him." - Aayan "He shows respect to the class." - Maya "He helps me clean up and he's a kind friend." - Isabel "He's so kind." - Rajveer On Halloween, TK dressed up for a school wide parade. Then students had fun at four Halloween themed stations. It was such a fun day!
