Hooray! We have reached the end of the alphabet!! Students have learned so much this year about letters and sounds. Next week we will celebrate with an Alphabet Soup-er Star party! In other big news, have you seen the rollie pollies?!?!?! TK is fascinated with these tiny crustaceans, also called pill bugs. They scavenge every recess to find, observe, and carefully hold the little creatures. Fun fact: Pill bugs are the only crustaceans that have adapted to spend their lives on land. They breathe through gills and need moisture to survive but they cannot swim. These harmless bugs roll into balls as a defense mechanism and are quite charming to our young TK scientists. Here they are in action: TK is enjoying our unit on Nursery Rhymes too. Students chant the rhymes, identify sight words in the rhymes, illustrate pictures to demonstrate their comprehension, and have the opportunity to build the rhyme with word cards as a challenge. This week they also cut out Humpty Dumpty's pieces and tried to put him back together again. They gave him a bandaid to help him feel better. Two students took on big challenges at center time. They felt so proud of finishing these difficult tasks:
