Happy New Year! The best part about coming back to school so soon after New Year's Day is that we get to celebrate together. On our first day back, we made countdown balls modeled after the ball that is dropped in NYC every year. Fun Fact: Before digital clocks and satellite times sent to smart phones, many cities had balls that dropped at 12:00PM each day for citizens to use to set their watches.
Students learned that the definition of resolution is "a strong decision to do or not do something." They chose one thing that they wanted to do this year. Their goals, in no particular order, are: to facepaint, do flower gardening, read, engineer cars, be a Pokemon trainer, clean up, help people, shoot a Nerf gun, be a hamster helper, go to the park by car, practice pretending to be a mom, visit a police officer, learn more reading skills, spy, and be a red mermaid. Five year olds are awesome. It's going to be an exciting year for these kids! Art coming soon. :) Check out our newsletter and see what else we've been doing in TK this week:
